Open Roof House offers a wide range of possibilities
in controlling the growing climate!

Designed for different locations, crops and qualities of shade material or shade screens

These houses are inexpensive, easy to erect, available with round or square columns. Standard weight. Column spacing is every 20 ft (6.lm) long on 10 ft (3.2) wide. We have designed units that are lighter weight like the Sunstopper as far apart as 20 ft (6m) by 20 ft (6m). Using the energy truss (W truss) strong units 20 ft (6m) by 20 ft (6m) possible. Units are designed to fit your needs and budget. All shade houses are non-coded.

Available with permanent non-moveable roofs of roofs that open and close.

Our flat open and closing flat roof designed "rain and shine protector" is available with many options.

If the system is combined with movable sidewalls and endwalls the environmental control is almost complete.

In regions being tropical, sub tropical or temperate, the influences on their crops of these varying climate conditions: excessive heat during the day, cold at night, heavy rain, strong winds, hail.

In many part of the world open roof greenhouses can provide large growing areas to vegetable and flower growers with low power consumption and low price storage.

Open roof structures available as stand alone such as the "Rain and Shine", for peak type houses, Quonsetter structures, as open/closing structures over existing or new houses as well as retrofits and upgrades. Also available for sawtooth and over Ventsetters.

Open Roof House

The roof can be fully or partially opened (or closed), according to weather conditions and crop requirements:

  • Open: for all outdoor crops and for hardening plants;
  • Partially closed: reducing light level/sun protection, or for protection against wind damage;
  • Closed: for shade, as wind or rain protection, as a frost barrier during the night or cold spells, for hail protection.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

  • A wide choice of roofing materials is available for the system; the choice depending on local conditions and preferences of the user. Plastic films, aluminized screens, reinforced coverings, shade nettings are all possible.

    It is also possible to replace the material with a different type, should a future change of crop makes this necessary.

  • The Open Roof House system can be fitted onto almost any type of structure, providing this structure is strong enough and meets certain size requirements.

Note that operation can be from girder to girder as well.

Whether the system is large or small we can design the proper structure and supply correct components to fit your crop, weather and location conditions. Complete and component systems available.

Great Structure for insect screen houses

Structures are very low cost - some as low as .40 US cents per square foot for large units over 15,000 sq ft in low wind load area, No snow areas. In fact, the shade and covering often cost more than the structure

  • If you purchase a minimum $3500 USD accessory equipment, shade or insect screen or other products and desire to build your own structure. We will supply plans and instructions for building structure. Plans available upon date of other purchases.

  • Many shade / insect protector clients use roll up side walls for special ventilation needs
  • We feel that in order to get an adequate ventilation rate where side or end walls covered with shade or insect screen - settings should not be more than 120 ft wide with at least 20 ft between sections. Length should not be a problem providing wind direction is through the sides. If not then limit length and build wider

Sunstopper examplesThe sun can be brutal on tender young plants. The Sunstopper will protect your plants from scorching and windburn while reducing water requirements and time. It is equally at home in a retail environment as it is in a commercial growing operation.

The Sunstopper is a low-cost, multipurpose structure that is easy to assemble and available with several options of shade cloth. Sturdy anchor plates or ground stakes secure it against high winds. Modular design allows for future expansion.

Specifications:

  • Width/Lengths: 10' x 20' or 10' x 20' blocks
  • Anchors: ground stakes or optional base plates with concrete anchor bolts
  • Vertical posts: 2112 "diameter x 10' galvanized steel
  • Cover: 30-90% shade cloth

Sunstopper complete packages include:

  • 2'/2" diameter x 12 ga. vertical posts with ground stakes in 10' x 20' or 20'x 20' blocks
  • 60% black knitted shade cloth with hemmed edges and grommets
  • 10" canopy ball bungee every 18"

Its rugged 3" x 3" vertical posts combined with a strong horizontal truss system gives you one of the best-built and attractive shade structures on the market. It comes standard in 20'x 20' blocks with 30-90% shade cloth and can be customized to fit your exact needs.
